Nimalung Tshechu

July 3rd - 5th

PLACE : Bumthang

This vibrant three-day festival is held at the Nimalung Dratshang in the Chumey Valley of Bumthang. A significant feature is the unfurling of a large Thangka of Guru Rinpoche, believed to cleanse the sins of those who witness it. Mask dances and cultural performances are also integral to the celebrations.

Kurjey Tshechu

A one-day auspicious festival celebrated at the sacred Kurjey Lhakhang in the Choekhor Valley of Bumthang. This temple is one of Bhutan's most holy sites, associated with Guru Rinpoche. The festival features mask dances and religious rituals.

Thimphu Drubchen

A unique festival held in the capital city, Thimphu, at the Tashichho Dzong. The Drubchen is notable for a masked dance performed to appease and protect the deity Pelden Lhamo. It's a vibrant event drawing many locals.
